NOTICE – HEALTH SERVICES UNION VICTORIA NO. 1 BRANCH (‘HEALTH WORKERS UNION’ OR ‘HWU BRANCH’)

The Health Services Union has applied to the Federal Court of Australia for orders which include that:

  1. the Scheme for the HWU Branch approved by the Court on 25 June 2025 be extended for twelve months;
  2. the Scheme be amended in the form of a proposed Amended Scheme;
  3. the 2026 quadrennial elections for the HWU Branch be deferred pending the hearing and determination by the Court of the applications referred to in 1 and 2 above.

A copy of the proposed Amended Scheme can be downloaded from the website of the Health Services Union at https://hsu.net.au/news/.

The application for orders deferring the 2026 quadrennial elections for the HWU Branch referred to in paragraph 3 above will be heard by the Court at 10.15am (Australian Eastern Standard Time) on 15 June 2026.

The application for orders extending the Scheme for twelve months and amending the Scheme referred to in paragraphs 1 and 2 above will be heard by the Court on a date to be fixed after 26 June 2026.

The hearings will take place in the Federal Court of Australia in the Victorian Registry at 305 William Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 and by Webex.

Any person who wishes to be heard by the Court in relation to the orders sought by the Health Services Union may attend these hearings, either in person or by video-link.
